Clouds
This collection is about two main objectives of mine, to capture an element of the beauty of the sky and to balance that with my more abstract work which focuses more on colour where form is incidental.
I began cloud-gazing about two years ago but it took several months before I built up the courage to begin to represent them on canvas. I have learnt through observation and practice.
I take photos of clouds almost daily and have a large collection to use as reference. I am in such awe of the ever-changing sky that, in the absence of my oils and brushes, I ‘collect’ the clouds and keep them for future paintings.
This is my first collection and I have many more pieces to create. The sky is constantly on the move and giving me an endless supply of inspiration. Equally, the antidote will always provide a balance.
